An abandoned vehicle in Stoney Nakoda has lead to 15 charges including possession of methamphetamine after RCMP officers tracked a fleeing suspect with help from police dog services earlier this week.

On Dec. 3, Cochrane RCMP responded to reports of an abandoned vehicle in the ditch near Morley, the press release stated.

Upon finding the vehicle, officers found an adult male near the vehicle who then fled from police into a wooded area. RCMP then utilized police dogs that tracked the suspect to a nearby residence, where he surrendered.

"At the time of his arrest, the offender was on probation and subject to a number of release conditions. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, cash, and break-in tools," Cochrane staff Sgt. Tom Kalis wrote in the statement.

MacKenzie Twoyongmen, 26, from Stoney Nakoda was charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, three charges of failure to comply with conditions of recognizance, eight charges of failure to comply with a probation order, possession of break-in instruments, and operating an unregistered vehicle without insurance.

Twoyoungmen was taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court on Dec. 6.

RCMP officials are thanking the public for notifying the officials about the abandoned vehicle, leading to the arrest.
