Cochrane RCMP officers are on the hunt for dog-nappers last spotted travelling eastbound on Highway 1A following the theft of a puppy and assault that took place last Sunday.

On Nov. 20, officers responded to reports of a robbery/assault near Township Road 264 that two males stole a French Bulldog puppy.

The homeowner, a French Bulldog breeder, welcomed the pair into her home as they said they were interested in purchasing the eight-week-old puppy when the one of the males grabbed the purebred puppy and ran.

The homeowner attempted to follow the thieves and was shoved to the ground while trying to stop them.

The pair left in a blue sports car, heading eastbound on Highway 1A.

The puppy is a bluenose French Bulldog and reportedly valued at $4,000.

The one male suspect was described as approximately 5’10 or 5’11 with darker skin, possibly Hispanic, with short brown well-styled hair, a slender build and wearing a blue jacket with a white polo shirt underneath, blue jeans and white Converse-style sneakers.

The second male is described as 5’6 or 5’7, possibly Hispanic as well, with a thicker build, full lips, inset/slanted eyes and brown hair. He was wearing khaki beige pants, tapered at the bottom and a tan t-shirt with black geometric designs.

RCMP reported the suspects barely spoke English and stated they were from El Salvador.

The police wish to remind the public to be aware of personal safety when selling goods on social media and “take precautions when welcoming strangers into your residence.”

If you have any information about this or any other incident, call the Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
