It is that time of year again to update those resumes and get ready to meet local employers. The fifth annual Cochrane Job Fair will take place at the Cochrane RancheHouse Feb. 19.

Robert Kalinovich is the economic development officer with the Town of Cochrane and said that there would be around 20 companies at the event with an estimated 400 jobs available ranging from part-time seasonal employment to full time professional positions.

“It is an established event now. We’ve got returning employers and in the community people know it is happening, so there is also a following that way. It is well attended and we expect at least 400 job seekers to come,” said Kalinovich.

A new component this year is a list that can be found on the Town of Cochrane website (cochrane.ca/jobfair) with all of the employers who will be at the event. This is something that Kalinovich said had been requested from people who attended the event in previous years.

He recommended that people who are interested in coming out to the job fair visit this site before coming to the event.

“People can tailor their resumes and read up on the companies that they are interested in applying with and prepare ahead of time. That is really important,” he said.

Cochrane Employment Services will also be on site to give resume advice.

Kalinovich pointed out that employers in Cochrane are ‘sometimes challenged to find local employees’ and that there are a lot of people in Cochrane who are looking for jobs and don’t want to make the commute to Calgary.

“If we have jobs here and there are local people that can fill those jobs, that is an important thing to try and connect those people together,” he said.

The event will run from 2 – 6 p.m. and is free to attend. For more information call 403-851-2285.
