Elizabeth Barrett hosts Spring Fling to build outdoor classroom

Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School, in coordination with the Elizabeth Barrett Fundraising Association, is hosting its annual Spring Fling Family Fun Night and Fundraiser on April 29.

Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School, in coordination with the Elizabeth Barrett Fundraising Association, is hosting its annual Spring Fling Family Fun Night and Fundraiser on April 29.

“This event brings the Elizabeth Barrett family community together, while at the same time raises funds to support school initiatives,” said Tracy Brooker, one of the event co-ordinators.

Spring Fling activities include: a kids’ zone area with carnival games, face painting, and the popular balloon burst game, a silent auction, prize tables, a disco dance and much more.

“This year the event proceeds will go toward the development of an outdoor classroom. Remaining funds will be banked for future replacement of the Elizabeth Barrett school playground in five years,” Brooker said.

According to Brooker, the event is the school’s premier fundraising opportunity. She has found her involvement with the event especially rewarding because of the bonds it builds between teachers and parents, all while children are having fun.

“With the amount of time our children spend in school – investment as a volunteer at a school is one of the best uses of time,” Brooker said.

“The Spring Fling is a chance to have fun with the people you admire most – your family, your teachers, and your friends.”
