This month at the Cochrane RancheHouse, the art of Lynne Harrison will be featured as part of their monthly art show series.

“I’ve known Lynne Harrison’s artwork for many years. I emailed Lynne several months ago about showing at the RancheHouse and was thrilled that she’d accepted,” said Jola Muran, arts and culture instructor and arts liaison with the Town of Cochrane.

Harrison attended Carleton University and decided to take a semester off, headed to Whistler, B.C. and found ‘inspiration in the mountains’ and began to paint them and sold them to various galleries and shops in the area.

She has hosted two large shows, one in Calgary at the Artspace Gallery called ‘Mystic Visions’ and another at the Avens Gallery in Canmore called ‘Keepers of the Land.’ She has also been a resident artist at Num-ti-Jah Lodge at Bow Lake.

“Her art energizes a room through her choice of vibrant colours and subject matter. She’s lived in the mountains for many years and has always painted them, but has moved towards painting aboriginal chiefs and animals. She’s been compared to Ted Harrison, the famous Canadian painter,” said Muran.

The show will be running at the RancheHouse from March 2-31 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information on Harrison visit lynnelharrison.ca.
