Winter set to return to Cochrane this week.

Winter weather is on its way to the Cochrane region, with 15 to 25 centimetres of snow possible this week.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement on March 18 for the Cochrane and west Rocky View areas

After record-breaking warmth, snow and colder-than average temperatures are expected to arrive on Tuesday and last through the week, with snowfall beginning on Tuesday night.

Snowfall will intensify on Wednesday and continue until Friday morning, the agency said, with 15 to 25 centimetres of snow expected in parts of western and southern Alberta.

Higher amounts are possible over the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains.

The high on Wednesday is expected to be –6 C, dipping to –10 C by the weekend, and overnight lows will be steady at around –14 C. 

Average highs this time of year are 4 C.
