A familiar place to Cochranites for more than just health and sporting needs will unveil a new membership structure next month. Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre (SLSFSC) continues to improve its facility by creating an array of services offered to the growing community.

The centre's new interim CEO, Blair Felesky has more than 25 years of executive leadership experience and is set to lead the facility into the future.

"Our organization has a fabulous team of people who are committed to enhancing quality of life for Cochrane and area residents. We fully embrace the significant role SLSFSC plays in shaping the character of Cochrane through preeminent recreational and lifestyle programs," said Felesky in a media release statement.

The centre is no stranger to serving residents of Cochrane a place where they can excel through fitness and sport, but it also provides a space to host community events such as the Helping Hands Food Drive, Canadian Tire's JumpStart Games and Cochrane Farmers' Market.

"By creating a sense of “place” and community, SLSFSC provides critical connections for residents of Cochrane and guests through recreational pursuits, lifestyle and wellness programs and, in the future, expanded social and cultural events. This sense of “place” helps shape the cohesive fabric of community vision, values and identity while promoting an active lifestyle for all ages. We also enrich the lives of individuals, families, inter-generational groups and the entire community through positive and fulfilling recreational experiences," said Felesky.

Felesky's statement also read that the centre's team is committed to engage in continuous improvement of programs and services offered to the community.

Set to launch on Oct.15, the new membership structure will focus on "a community that PLAYS together, STAYS together."
