Cochrane Farmers’ Market organizers are gearing up for another abundant year and are reminding community groups they hold a special place at the Saturday event.

Market organizer Valerie McCracken said there are always have two stalls open free of charge for community groups.

“We want to incorporate the community as much as possible, and we still have a lot of dates available, ” said McCracken.

In addition to the two spots set aside for community groups, market organizers are also open to partnering with local and surrounding area businesses for unique opportunities. For example, last year’s Mat2Market free yoga classes with Green Lotus Studio, and complimentary dog sitting through Paw X Paw Dog Walking.

“We are always hoping for a sunny Saturday but if not we will still be out, ” McCracken said.

The markets are organized by a group of volunteers through the Cochrane Environmental Action Committee (CEAC) with all of the proceeds of the market supporting the organization in its efforts to make Cochrane a more environmentally aware and active community.

The market kicks off on June 3 and runs every Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., rain or shine, at the Cochrane Ranche Historic Site until the end of September.
