A fatal accident shut down the Trans Canada highway for five hours yesterday morning.
Cochrane RCMP responded to reports of a pedestrian versus motor vehicle collision at the intersection of the Trans Canada Highway and Highway 22 shortly after midnight.
Sgt. Darleen White said some members were dispatched to a suspicious person on the highway when they received the call. The Calgary man was dead on scene and his name will not be released at this time.
Highway 1 was shut down for approximately five hours while the Collision Investigation Team analyzed the scene.
The Cochrane RCMP said the incident is still under investigation.
