The Cochrane Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) and the Board Development Program (Alberta Culture & Tourism) will be hosting a Strengthening Volunteer Boards workshop on Saturday, Jan. 16.

The workshop takes place at Homestead Apartment Building at 209 2 Ave W from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will focus on incorporated not-for-profit organizations.

“If you’re a new board member wanting to learn more about your role or an experienced board member wishing to enhance your skills and work effectively as a team member than this workshop is for you,” states the workshop’s poster.

It will address a volunteer board’s legal and ethical responsibilities, its governing role in an organization, how to encourage teamwork, and much more.

There is a fee of $10 per participant for this event, which will include lunch, and people can choose to participate on their own or with another member of their board. There is a limit of three board members per organization.

To register, call the FCSS at 403-851-2250.
