Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) staff will be leading a focus group on accessibility issues within the Town of Cochrane.

The event takes place at Frank Wills Memorial Hall, located at 405 First Street East, March 18 from 10 a.m. – noon and anyone with something to say on the matter is welcome to attend (refreshments will be available).

“Eliza Neven-Pugh was the one who prompted us to look into this further,” said FCSS manager, Susan Flowers.

Nineteen-year-old Neven-Pugh is a Mount Royal University student and Cochranite who lives with cerebral palsy and who must use a wheelchair daily; she has been an outspoken advocate for those facing mobility issues in town — from persons with disabilities or seniors who use canes or wheelchairs to mothers pushing strollers.

“We want to encourage people to come out and voice their concerns (regarding accessibility issues in Cochrane) as the town continues to grow,” said Flowers, adding that their findings would be shared with town administration to help the planning department.
