Update: Fire ban rescinded for Cochrane

Jan. 17 update The fire ban for the town has been lifted. Jan. 9 Due to high winds and very little moisture in the area, Chief David Humprey of Cochrane Fire Services, has issued a fire ban for the town, effective as of 4:30 p.m. Jan. 9.

The fire ban for the town has been lifted.

Due to high winds and very little moisture in the area, Chief David Humprey of Cochrane Fire Services, has issued a fire ban for the town, effective as of 4:30 p.m. Jan. 9.
All outstanding burning permits are suspended until further notice. Fire bans are defined as extreme fire danger.

 The following are not permitted during the fire ban:

  • Open fire permits
  • Town fire pits
  • Backyard fire pits
  • Charcoal briquette bbq
  • Chiminea
  • Outdoor fireplace
  • Fournos oven
Indoor fireplaces as well as propane/natural gas fire pits and barbecues are still permitted.

The Fire Ban will be in effect until the Fire Chief’s office deems appropriate to downgrade the advisory.
