With nearly 100 varieties of fireworks ranging from $2-$600, Mondor and his team advocate for responsible, safe use this Canada Day.

Tips:

Choose a wide, clear site for firing, away from obstacles and dry grass.

If aerials or shells are in use, keep your audience a minimum of 30 metres from lighting area.

Do not smoke or permit open flames near fireworks.

Check to see if fireworks are permitted in your area.

Sparklers are the only item designed to be hand held.

Do not purchase illegal fireworks, as they may not meet strict standards put forth by Natural Resources Canada.

Always store fireworks in a cool, dry place; avoid moisture.

Always check wind direction and angle away from spectators.

Do not deploy in high winds.

Do not shoot fireworks out of glass or metal containers, as they could crack.

Never try to re-light a misfired firework item.

Keep a bucket or hose nearby. Do not wear/handle with loose fitting clothing.

Do not transport in pockets.

Keep pets indoors while using fireworks.
