Two Cochranites were part of a group of 12 Alberta football players that were recently signed by the Westshore Rebels of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL).

Bow Valley High School's Nathan Hillier (receiver) and Springbank High School's Callum McCulloch-Graham (offensive lineman) are two former Cochrane Lions midget players who are taking the step up to the next level. They are joining former Cochrane Cobra and current Calgary Stampeders fullback Rob Cote's old alma mater.

“Desire and love of the game are what separate these two guys from other players their age, ” said former Cochrane Lions midget coach Jud Graham. “Nathan loves football as much as any kid I've ever coached, and Callum has always wanted to play at the next level. ”

The Rebels are notorious for producing players that go on to CIS and NCAA teams, and Graham feels that his two former players have got what it takes to make an impact in the CJFL.

“Nathan has great speed and excellent hands, ” Graham said. “He isn't the tallest kid, but I knew I could always have a quarterback throw a jump ball at him, and he would catch over a bigger defender. Callum is a big strong kid who has that good offensive lineman frame, with a big torso and huge arms. He carries close to 300 lbs, but he doesn't look like it

“They both have a lot to offer at the next level. ”
