Does your child like to climb, vault, traverse, or swing? Bragg Creek Community Centre has just the program for the little ‘monkeys’ in your family.

The centre is offering an acrobatic studio program from September to June.

“Our mission is to create quality programming and share our passion in acrobatics, movement, creativity and just some plain fun,” said artistic director Peter Van Thiel.

Offered to ages seven to 17, the 11-week program covers three different areas.

Acrobatic gymnastics involves teams working together to perform routines consisting of acrobatic moves (holds, throws, catches), dance choreography and tumbling set to music.

Another discipline offered is Cyr wheel (pictured), or simple wheel. No experience of gymnastics is necessary and it is a fun way to get in shape. Benefits of learning this new sport includes balance, coordination, strength, core workout, and “a fun way to exercise.”

The other program available is aerial gymnastics. Beginners through to intermediate level participants are welcome to explore the exciting world of circus aerial arts through aerial skills, hoops and trapeze.

The program costs $165 to $240 per session (Monday and Thursday nights); registration is ongoing. For more information, contact the Bragg Creek Community Centre at 403-949-4277.
