HOJA will be performing at the Cochrane Alliance Church on April 24.

Originally from Saskatoon, Sask., the a cappella singing group recently relocated to the Cochrane and Calgary area. The group performs hit songs from all genres, suitable for all ages.

“I’ve seen HOJA in concert before and it’s really something the whole family would enjoy – it’s not just for kids, it’s not just for adults. It is great family entertainment that anybody would enjoy, they do a broad range of stuff,” said Jason Koleba, the lead pastor at the Cochrane Alliance Church.

HOJA is donating the proceeds from the concert to the church’s Open the Door project, which is funding the church’s massive renovation.

“We’ve been working for several years now planning to do a significant renovation to our facility. The vision behind the renovation is to open the door, more broadly, to the community so that this building becomes more user-friendly,” Koleba explained.

To date. $1.1 million has been raised toward the $2.7 million renovation.

Koleba said the renovation would benefit the church community and the overall community as it will allow other organizations and groups to make use of the building.

Aside from performing for private functions, HOJA spends a great deal of time visiting schools and other community organizations, often times donating all or part of these performances.

“We’re always looking for opportunities to donate performances and help out ... So in addition to making a living doing this we also donate our time to various situations so we always have our eyes open for various opportunities like this,” Martin explained.

“It’s not just a fundraiser for the church itself, the project kind of benefits the community as a whole.”

“We are super grateful for the generosity of Chris and the HOJA team for basically putting this concert on for free for us,” Koleba said.

The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show starts at 6:00 p.m. Tickets for the performance are available in advance online at www.cochranealliance.com/events or at the door the night of.
