Home Reno Heaven celebrating the 12 days of Christmas

“It’s a great opportunity to not only support a non-profit organization … But, you can always upgrade things in your house,” Kedian said. “It’s such a wonderful opportunity to give back— When you’re donating the money is staying right in the community."

COCHRANE— Creating a festive event to mark the holiday season, Home Reno Heaven is hosting a unique celebration counting down the 12 Days of Christmas.

The 12 Days of Christmas begins on Dec. 10 and will feature a unique themed sale each day, excluding Sundays, said Home Reno Heaven marketing specialist Lisa Kedian.

“It’s going to be things like on a certain day flooring and accessories are going to be 20 per cent off,” Kedian said. “If people are renovating things in their home or wanted to renovate or even just upgrade things like lighting fixtures now is the time to do it.”

The ultimate goal of the event is to get people in the store and raise the profile of Home Reno Heaven in the community.

Home Reno Heaven was launched by the Cochrane Society for Housing Options in 2010. The purpose of the shop is to raise funds for affordable housing in Cochrane.

“It’s a store that offers second-hand items— Things that would be for home renovation, business renovations, artists and DIYers,” Kedian said. “Basically, things that people can use for renovations and there’s always treasures to find.”

The holidays serve as a great opportunity to visit the shop and explore the ever-changing inventory. She added Home Reno Heaven accepts donations from anybody focussed on home needs. Items featured at the store include appliances, doors, windows, cabinets and more. It also has construction items like flooring and drywall.

The used items available at the store are in great condition, Kedian said, and can help shoppers to save money when they are working on home renovation projects.

The money raised from selling items goes back to the Cochrane Society for Housing Options.

“It’s a great opportunity to not only support a non-profit organization … But you can always upgrade things in your house,” Kedian said. “It’s such a wonderful opportunity to give back— When you’re donating the money is staying right in the community."

She added visiting the store is a great way to shop local and ensure the money they spend directly benefits the Cochrane economy.

Home Reno Heaven has donation bins around town. She noted they are the only bins that will accept worn and torn textiles including clothing. Look for the Cochrane Society for Housing Options logo on the bin before donating.

She added Home Reno Heaven is always looking for volunteers. Anyone interested in getting volunteer hours at the store can visit the website /hrh.csho.ca/. Volunteers have the option of helping with retail, stocking shelves or testing items before they hit the floor.

“It’s a great way to not only recycle items and give them a second life instead of ending up in the dumpster, but you’re also supporting housing,” Kedian said. “It’s a really great thing.”
