Home Treasures donates $15K to Bethany for gazebo

A $15,000 donation from the Treasures For Your Home Society to the Bethany Family Council will enable the build of a gazebo for the long-term care residents between wings six and seven.

A $15,000 donation from the Treasures For Your Home Society to the Bethany Family Council will enable the build of a gazebo for the long-term care residents between wings six and seven.

“Residents on those two units will have direct access to the gazebo,” said Bethany administrator Jennifer Vance, adding that the gazebo will be replacing one that had to be torn down due, as it was “unsafe and too small”.

The donation will cover the entire construction costs, including ensuring the space is wheelchair-accessible and that the windy side will be enclosed with glass.

Barb Primeau and Bernadette Thibault presented the donation to Vance and council member Robert Head Nov. 21, who will be getting to work designing the gazebo.

The Bethany Family Council is made up of family members of Bethany residents, who fundraise to provide the little extra measures of comfort for the residents.

To date, the council has raised more than $70,000 for capital projects, equipment and programs to improve the quality of life for residents living at the Cochrane long-term care seniors facility.

Treasures For Your Home Society (Home Treasures) has opened up nominations for their Christmas Wish campaign and is looking for the community to nominate individuals/families in need of some extras this holiday season; nominations close Dec. 2.

The Home Treasures store will hold their Children’s Christmas Dec. 3 where children can come and shop for five gifts for five dollars.

Last year, more than 400 kids came out to shop.
