Every Monday, Cochrane Today will recognize a member of the community who has soared to new heights as a person or group who demonstrates the character of the mighty eagle.

This week, we are pleased to bring you a group of Honorary Eagles in the staff at the Cochrane Public Library.

Cochrane has no shortage of community groups and organizations that go the extra mile in terms of supporting and building this great community and the folks at the library do this in spades.

Since the current team has been at the helm of the facility, usage has grown to up to 500 people using library services on a daily basis and the staff attribute that success to the amazing team that puts everything together.

Every inch of the small space that is Cochrane's library is utilized making it a place to do more than simply check out a book or do research.

From a makers space where imaginations come to life, the wonder of the 3-D printer, the practical help from the tool and life-jacket libraries, to countless programs for all ages covering the gamut of literacy, the library is crammed corner-to-corner with something for everyone.

If that weren't enough, the library team also is the power behind the annual Medieval Day Festival, they brought Fred Penner to town and do community literacy outreach in Morely.

Jeri Maitland, the library's executive director, Sara Birch, community outreach and program librarian, and Andrea Johnston, community outreach and program librarian, attribute the library's success to the great working relationship of the team.

Each said that relationship stems from a passion and enthusiasm for the job, which includes everyone raiding the library's and their personal "tickle trunks" to dress for themed events.

Talking to the staff and walking the space it is easy to see they live by the mission statement emblazoned on their T-shirts – Inspire, Innovate, Support, Educate.

Check out the next edition of the Cochrane Eagle for more on what is happening at the library and what people can expect to see in the future.
