Put your gardening and lawn care skills to the test this year with Top Spray's second annual Cochrane's Best Yard contest. Last year, 24 people entered -  12 satisfied the rule requirements – for cash prizes and bragging rights by creating picturesque lawn and garden spaces around their homes. This year, Top Spray is hoping to have double the number of entries. Manager Rob Olenik said the contest was started to both promote Top Spray products and help create community pride by inspiring people to beautify their lawns and gardens. There are also environmentally friendly spinoff benefits, he added. For example , Olenik said that knowing how to use mulch properly can help reduce water consumption and retention on a  property helping to conserve and save money. Entering the contest is simple: Like Top Spray's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/topspray) and then once your yard space is the best it can be, email the photos to [email protected]. The rules are easy. Contestants must live in Cochrane, develop the garden themselves and use Top Spray products including a mulch or soil product - don't forget to keep your receipts. Olenick is hoping the contest will continue to grow in popularity and is looking forward to seeing what entrants come up with this year. "Last year's winner,  to see how knowledgeable she was was really neat," said Olenik, add ing another entry had the best manicured lawn he had ever seen. "The enthusiasm of the gardeners is really great," he said. Olenik said he hopes to see more success for the contest this year. "We're creating friendly competition in the community," he said.
