Join Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park for Parks Day on July 16.

From 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. participate in the Run at the Ranch by 5 Peaks. The race features different distance for all age groups including the Watermark at Bearspaw Timed Kids Race, the Children’s Challenge, the GoodLife Fitness Half-Marathon, the Big Sky Landscaping Enduro Course, and the Grand Avenue Pharmacy-The Health Store Sports Course.

An award ceremony will take place following the last race. Participants must register in advance of the event at grpf.ca/2016run.

From 11:30 to 3:30 families can take part in multiple games and activities at the park. The park staff will be offering program teasers for children to experience what the park has to offer.

The Town of Cochrane Fun Van will also be in attendance providing games and activities. Attendees can also take in demonstrations and information from Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Cochrane Search and Rescue, Alberta Parks Mounted Patrol, Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Bearspaw Historical Society, Archaeological Society of Alberta, Friends of Kananaskis Country, and the Alberta Off-Highway Vehicle Association.

Starting at noon, those in attendance can enjoy MacKay’s Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park Ice Cream while supplies last. People can also enjoy Mountain View Optometry face painting, Cochrane Dodge Jeep Ram pony rides, Cochrane Lions Rodeo Royalty, and meet Max the MaxWell Dog.

At 1:30 p.m. take in a live show by Alberta Parks Interpretive Theatre titled Charlie’s Raptors: Secret Agents of the Air! The Raptors are leading covert missions in skies everywhere. Spend a day with the Kananaskis sector as they train their new recruits to fulfill their destiny as top predators.

Families are encouraged to pack along picnics for the event. Cochrane’s Twisted Basil has partnered with the park to offer full picnics for purchase in advance.

All family activities in the afternoon are free but donations are welcome. The Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park would like to thank its many partners and sponsors, including its presenting sponsor the Rotary Club of Cochrane, and the community for making this possible.
