Cochrane RCMP are awaiting the results of an autopsy conducted Nov. 3 before they can confirm the identity of a deceased person.

On Nov. 1, at around 2:20 a.m., the Stoney Nakoda Fire Department responded to a complaint of a vehicle fire received from a motorist travelling along Highway 1A near Morley.

Upon extinguishing the fire, responders discovered human remains.

The Cochrane RCMP General Investigation Section, with assistance from the Lethbridge Forensic Identification Section, is investigating the matter.

Four occupants were taken to hospital and charges may be pending, following a two-vehicle collision on Hwy 22, one km north of Hwy 1.

Injuries were reported to be non-life threatening.

Cochrane RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision involving one occupant (taken to hospital) in a Toyota Yaris and four occupants (three taken to hospital) in a Chevy Trailblazer.

This collision is still under investigation, although it appears that roads and weather were a factor. Alcohol was not a factor.
