The Cochrane Eagle is asking candidates an issue-based question each week leading up to the election that they will answer in their own words. If a candidate does not answer a question, we will include a bio box with a disclaimer saying the candidate did not respond. All candidates were given a limit of 185 words and questions will be edited to fit that length. Our third question is:

How do you plan to address the town’s growing traffic congestion?

Cochrane’s population is approximately 26,000 and dog population is up to 6,000. Presently, we only have one off-leash park near Spray Lake Sawmills Sports Centre. Most dogs go to that off-leash park for exercise and add much more traffic in town.

There are two ways to handle the traffic problems in Cochrane. (1) Over and under pass for highways 22 and 1A. (2) The town planned four off-leash parks in various parts of Cochrane, and I want to see them completed to decrease traffic jams.
