The Kimmett Cup has announced that registration is now open for their seventh annual hockey tournament.

The event will take place Jan. 16 – 17 at Mitford Pond and Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

The tournament is held every January in memory of Lindsay Leigh Kimmett, who passed away in 2008 in a car crash near Cochrane. All funds raised benefit the Lindsay Leigh Kimmett Memorial Foundation.

As of Nov. 12, there were 17 teams that had already entered the Kimmett Cup, leaving 31 spots remaining for the tournament. There are also various sponsorship opportunities still available, and they are also looking for volunteers who would like to help with the event. This year’s tournament will continue to try to reach the goal of raising $500,000 for the Children’s Wish Foundation and grant up to 50 wishes for children. In addition, a portion of Kimmett Cup 7 funds will be directed to local Cochrane charity Helping Families Handle Cancer.

Jayman is sponsoring this year’s Kimmett Cup raffle and the prize will be for a trip for two to a professional sports event or concert anywhere in the U.S.
