If you want to nominate a leader of tomorrow, you better hurry as the applications close tomorrow.

The Leaders of Tomorrow is an award where recipients are picked through a nomination process to recognize youth who make a difference in the community, presented by the Town of Cochrane and administered by Cochrane Family & Community Support Services.

Last year, 22 youth were recognized with winners agreeing the ceremony inspires current and future generations to give back to their communities.

Nominees ranged from volunteers at Cochrane & Area Humane Society, to youth who worked the teen mentoring program with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary and Area, to one teenager who raised money and awareness sponsoring one of Cochrane’s first Syrian refugee families.

“The award ceremony is more than just a thank you, it goes so much deeper. It is good and makes others want to get involved … you realize the little things matter,” said Natalie Power, last year’s recipient.

There is a maximum of two nominations per school, organization or individual.

The awards ceremony kicks off April 27.

Deadline for nominations is April 7 at 4:30 p.m. Future leaders can be nominated at cochrane.ca/632/3032/Leaders-of-Tomorrow.
