The Cochrane Lioness Club donated $2,000 to help build a playground at Ranche View School.
The Lionesses choose to give the funds – raised from their annual mom-to-mom sale – to the playground after receiving a request from the playground campaign committee and decided it was a relevant cause.
The new K-8 school, located in Cochrane’s Sunset community is set to open in stages for the 2016-2017 school year. When schools are built in Alberta, funding for the playgrounds it not included and it is typically up to parents and community groups to fundraise.
The playground is expected to cost $300,000 and organizers are hoping to start building next summer.
