Charges are pending on a 36-year-old male from Morley for robbery, impaired care or control of a motor vehicle and two counts of breach of recognizance.

At around 6:30 p.m. Dec. 17, a male hired a cab from Calgary to take him to the nearby Stoney First Nation in Morley. He was observed by the cab driver to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

Upon arriving at his destination, the male told the driver he would return momentarily with his fare.

The male went inside the residence, returning with a knife and demanding cash from the driver.

The driver exited the cab and was chased by the male, who then entered the cab and drove away. The cab driver was left standing in the cold.

Cochrane RCMP responded immediately and with the assistance of the public, the cab and the suspect were located in the driveway of a Nation member’s residence.

He was arrested and taken into custody without incident.
