Miss Mozart will be holding its annual Christmas recital with some festive family activities Dec. 20.
The event is free and open to the public and will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.
Shelley Steele-Gittel runs Miss Mozart and said the recital is informal and laid back.
“Just like our lessons that are in our students’ homes, we are trying to make our recital as comfortable as possible,” she said.
Steele-Gittel said they set up family friendly activities such as ornament decorating and snowflake making and when the students arrive they will announce which activity they are going to take part in.
When the students feel comfortable, they perform for the other participants and once the performance is finished, they go about mingling and continuing their activities until the next presentation.
“Last year’s recital was a success, with many of our young musicians having the experience of a first performance,” said Steele-Gittel.
She said the performances would be mainly Christmas music and would feature piano, guitar and vocals. There will also be some performances by a few of their more than 10 teachers who are on staff.
