A Stoney woman has been charged with second-degree murder following a fatal domestic dispute.
On Oct. 1 at approximately 10:31 p.m., Cochrane RCMP responded to reports of a stabbing in Morley. Upon arrival police located a male outside of the residence who was declared dead on scene.
Vanessa Poucette, 46, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder for the victim who has been identified as 42-year-old Brennon Riley Twoyoungmen.
RCMP Major Crimes South Unit members are taking over the investigation with assistance from the Cochrane RCMP.
No one else was injured and police said at no time was there any danger to other people.
Poucette is scheduled to appear in court later this week with the case going through the Calgary court system.
The Calgary police are investigating an officer-involved shooting after police opened fire on a suspect after an incident that began in Calgary and ended in Cochrane.
At approximately 2:20 a.m. on Oct 4, the Calgary police pulled over a truck near the intersection of 12 Mile Coulee Road and Blueridge Rise N.W. When the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the male passenger pushed the driver out of the seat and commandeered the vehicle. Shots were fired when the suspect manoeuvered the truck in proximity of the officers.
The suspect then fled, driving to Cochrane.
Calgary police, in partnership with Cochrane RCMP located the vehicle in Cochrane, and one man was taken into custody.
No one was injured during the incident.
As protocol, Calgary police will investigate the incident with the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) reviewing the investigation.
