*UPDATE* RCMP located the remains of Nicholas Lush April 8 in the Longview area.

RCMP searched several areas in the southwest of Calgary this week in hopes of recovering the body of 32-year-old Nicholas Lush.

Officers have yet to recover his body.

Two men, 22-year-old Kristopher Goerzen of Brooks and 24-year-old Kenneth Bauer of Calgary, have been charged with first degree murder in the investigation of the Lush - who went missing in the early morning hours of March 29 after leaving a house party in the Springbank area.

The two men were arrested without incident April 5 in Cranbrook, B.C. At the time of the arrest both suspects were in the grey Dodge Charger with Alberta license BDY-1907 that police had been looking for.

An incident not initially thought to be connected to the disappearance of Lush led to the arrest of the two men - as a passing motorist reported to have witnessed an assault in the early morning hours of March 29 on Hwy 1, at the Hermitage Road overpass near Cochrane.

This, combined with evidence collected during the investigation, has led RCMP to confirm that the two incidents were connected and that the individual the witness reported to have observed being assaulted was Nicholas Lush.

Lush was married with three young children, ages six, nine and 11. His wife, Denise, said her husband had attended a house party in the Springbank area with his cousin.

Allegedly he was asked to leave the party following an altercation that had ensued. Lush has been described as a ‘happy, hands-on family man' who loved to fish; it was reportedly out of character for him to go missing or to not contact his wife.

Bauer is scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court April 21 and Goerzen is scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court April 14.
