If you are looking to benefit your life through exercise and education, Spray Lake Sawmill Family Sports Centre (SLSFSC) has a new program that can do just that.

On Sep. 16 a "six-week challenge" will get started with private sessions in a small group training environment with head performance coach, Amie Sherwin. This pre-planned program will include, classes tailored to each individual's health and fitness level, meal planning, fitness assessments (before and after the challenge) and mindset coaching.

"We've teamed up with local business, for example Two Pharmacy, they'll be coming in to talk to us. We also have some chiropractors coming in to talk about basic health and we have nutritionists coming in to give an education seminar on nutrition," said Jessie Jacobs, supervisor of fitness and health at Spray Lake Sawmill Family Sports Centre (SLSFSC).

In the "six-week challenge," you are able to choose from 21 sessions a week, according to what fits your busy schedule. There are early morning classes, lunchtime classes and evening classes all which consist of 45 minutes. There are no limitations on the number of classes you can attend. If you are trying to set a specific goal for yourself, go to as many classes as you would like within the six week program. Jacobs encourages those who sign up to come at least three to four times a week.

You can sign up for classes beforehand if that promotes motivation or you can simply drop-in to one of the offered times. All the classes will be held in the newly-anticipated wellness centre.

Spray Speaks will be every Saturday morning during the "six-week challenge." This will be the educational side of the program where various doctors and nutritionists will come to speak about general health. This will begin at 10:15 a.m. and run about an hour to 90 minutes.

The meal planning portion of the program will be catered to individual tastes and eating habits, so if there are any dietary restrictions, those will be looked after. "If you're a vegan, we can make it work," says Jacobs.

Registration is now open but sign up quickly as spots are limited. The first "six-week challenge" will be from Sept 16 to Oct 26 and the second one from Nov 4 to Dec 14. The fee is $299 for non-members and $224 for members of the facility.
