The quarterly Pet-i-Cure fundraiser takes place next weekend.

For a minimum of $10 you can get your pooch (or kitty) a professional nail trim with all of the funds going toward the Cochrane & Area Humane Society.

High Tails Pet Resorts provided professional groomers for the event. Dogs must be on a leash and cats are welcome, too, as long as they are in a kennel.

The purr-fect pet-i-cures will be offered Feb. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Cochrane & Area Humane Society, located at 62 Griffin Rd.

So bring your furry friends down and get them looking great for a good cause.

Cochrane Fire Services is reminding residents to keep fire hydrants visible and accessible.

Property owners with fire hydrants on or adjacent to their property must make sure firefighters can easily see and get to hydrants. Responsibilities include, removing snow and other material so that it does not obscure the view of hydrants and keeping snow at least two metres from the sides and one metre from back of hydrants.

Parking is not allowed within five metres of a fire hydrant.

Family fun donations

The Cochrane Fire Department and RCMP is asking residents and guests to give back to the community while watching their annual Family Day Hockey Game.

The police and firefighters are asking people to donate to the Cochrane Activettes Food Bank with a current wish list of stew/chili, canned fruits, coffee, rice and juice.

Donations for the food bank are being accepted before the game at the Cochrane Protective Services Building, located at 20 Grande Blvd. or the Cochrane RCMP detachment, located at 391 First St. East.

The Hockey Game takes place at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre on Feb. 20.
