The first No Greater Love festival will be hosted on Stoney Nakoda First Nation grounds this weekend.

According to the website, this will be Canada's largest Christian music festival with a full two-day line up of musicians and bands including headliners Switchfoot and Michael W. Smith.

“We are here to celebrate Christianity in all forms - it is all about the music and unity, ” said Ruth Alexander, the festival's brand and marketing manager.

“There will be an incredible line up with over 20 bands and artists from all different genres and the backdrop of the festival is beautiful. ”

The festival will also act as a way to give back to the community with $10 from each ticket will support a local charity that has yet to be decided.

Organizers said they have sold more than 4,000 tickets with more than 200 RV and campsites populated.

Those interested in the two-day festival can buy day or weekend passes, saving money on group and family deals. There are also parking, bus parking and camping passes available on the festival's website.

Children aged 12 and under get in free but according to the website, a “Kids Pass ” must be purchased through the ticketing platform, printed and brought to the festival to be scanned for entry. Alcohol is not permitted anywhere on the festival grounds.

“It is a beautiful family environment, ” Alexander said.

“There will be no alcohol and it is cool to be able to bring your family to an event or music festival where you are in a safe environment. ”

The two-day festival will be on Aug. 13 and 14, in Morley, located 32 km West of Cochrane. Included with the music, the festival will also have food trucks, a kid's kingdom fun zone, camping, a vendor alley full of festival attire and gifts, urban village with a skate park, First Nations village where Stoney people will be sharing their history, and a Global village where people can “experience different initiatives happening around the world showing God's love. ”

Initiated by Christian Ventures Group Ltd., the mission statement is that organizers want to create grassroots projects that will “help build bridges and encourage people to come together in unity for the Kingdom. ”
