Province confirms 247 new cases of COVID-19

The province reported an additional COVID-19 related death and 216 new confirmed cases Sunday.

ALBERTA—  An Alberta government news release confirmed that there have 247 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province in the last 24-hours on Sunday (April 26)

There have been 4,480 cases total recorded in Alberta, of these 1,549 people have recovered.

There has been one additional COVID-19 related death Saturday bringing the provincial total to 73.

Of those infected 83 people have been hospitalized, 20 of whom have been placed in intensive care units.

The province reported that 460 cases are suspected to be the result of community transmission.

The press release noted that Albertans can help prevent the spread of the virus by practising good hygiene that can include washing hands regularly for a least 20 seconds, coughing or sneezing into your elbow, avoiding touching your face and disposing of tissues properly.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, runny nose, sore throat, fever and shortness of breath.

A total of 125,310 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the province. A total of 4,407 tests have been completed in the last 24-hours.

There have been 33 cases of COVID-19 reported in Rocky View County, 22 of which have recovered, and the Cochrane-Springbank region has reported 15 cases, 12 of which have recovered.
