The Cochrane Quilters Guild is kicking off the New Year with an art show at the Cochrane RancheHouse from Jan. 2 - 30.

There will be 24 quilts on display from 24 different members of the guild on the 2nd floor of the RancheHouse from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

“I have met quilters in the community over the past year and several were interested in the guild sharing their quilts in a show at the RancheHouse,” said Jola Muran, arts and culture instructor and arts liaison with the Town of Cochrane.

Muran coordinates the art shows at the RancheHouse for the Town of Cochrane. In the past she said they have shown sculptures, photography, paintings, button collages, woodworking and now quilts.

“I believe quilters are a very important part of our art community,” she said.

Muran said the guild has been around for around five years and is now full with 40 members, although they do have a waiting list.

The Cochrane Quilt Guild members volunteer and donate their quilts for various causes, such as placemats for Meals for Wheels, Ronald McDonald House and quilts were donated to victims of the 2013 flood.
