A Calgary man is facing more than 50 fraud and mail theft-related charges involving crimes in Cochrane, Bearspaw and Springbank.

After a lengthy investigation by the Cochrane Crime Reduction Unit with the assistance of the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit, Mark Adam Forrest (33) of Calgary was arrested in Calgary on outstanding warrants for approximately 52 charges relating to theft of mail including identity fraud, fraud, possession of stolen property, breaching conditions of release, use of stolen credits etc.  Additional charges are pending for Forrest.  Forrest will be taken before a Justice of the Peace regarding his release and a new court date will be determined.

The Cochrane, Bearspaw and Springbank areas have experienced a significant rise in thefts of mail this year.  “We believe that Mr. Forrest’s arrest will have a significant effect on the Calgary and Cochrane rural communities” said Corporal Troy Savinkoff of the Cochrane Crime Reduction Unit.

The Cochrane RCMP is committed to increasing community safety by using a crime reduction strategy that focuses on identifying repeat offenders, gathering intelligence, and conducting enforcement initiatives.
