Cochrane RCMP made an arrest following a dramatic late-night pursuit on Aug. 1

Police received a report of a motorist being nearly struck by another motorist driving dangerously near Morley.  Shortly afterward, the same vehicle nearly struck RCMP members operating marked police vehicles.

A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect vehicle failed to stop for police.  The suspect vehicle was driven in a manner that was exceedingly dangerous to the public and therefore pursued.

The pursuit ended on Highway 1A near Twelve Mile Coulee and a lone male occupant was arrested without incurring injury to the police or to the offender.   The suspect vehicle was identified as having previously been stolen from Calgary.

The adult male, a resident of Calgary, remains in custody facing a number of charges relating to this event and breaches of prior release conditions.  More details relating to charges and the offender are forthcoming.
