The living dead will again be taking over the Cochrane and District Agricultural Society with Zombie Survivor 2015.

Registration for the popular event opened Feb. 27 for both runners, who try to ‘survive’ the ‘zombie infested lands’ and the zombies, who will be chasing the runners and trying to capture their flags. They are also looking for volunteers to help out with the event.

The 5-km race will take place July 25 starting at 8 a.m. and finishing at 6 p.m. According to the Zombie Survivor website, prior to the race, runners will receive three flags representing lives, which will be attached to a belt with the goal of the race being to complete the track with at least one ‘life’ remaining. The zombies on the course are ‘not only out for your brains, but will be targeting your flags.’

Last year, 15 makeup artists gave participants a ‘zombie makeover.’

There will also be an ‘End of the World Party’, beer gardens, music and food trucks at the run.

As part of registration, participants get ‘race swag’, a 2015 Zombie Survivor T-shirt, entry into the after party and access to sponsor tents and games.
