The Rotary Club of Cochrane is hosting Todd Hirsch, ATB Financial’s chief economist, for a speaking engagement and dinner on April 4.

The club is opening the event to the public with tickets available on the Rotary Club of Cochrane’s website at rotarycochrane.ca

In a recent speech to the Rotary Club of Edmonton, Hirsch told attendees that he thought more Albertans could lose their jobs in the next few months with the unemployment rate expected to reach a 23-year high before the economy starts improving.

Hirsch is expected to provide more details about where he sees Alberta’s economy headed in 2016 and beyond at the April 4 dinner in Cochrane.

For almost a decade, he’s taught economics at the University of Calgary, and released his first book, The Boiling Frog Dilemma: Saving Canada from Economic Decline in 2012. The event is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. April 4 at Cochrane Legion 114, 5th Ave. West. Tickets are $35. For more information, call 587-899-1903.
