Cochrane Celtic lovers will be serving up sociables at the annual Water Valley Celtic Festival this June 21.

The one-day event boasts offerings of a variety of youth and adult talent — local and beyond; hundreds of musicians will be performing throughout the community at a number of indoor and outdoor venues.

Local collective, the Roving Stones, will be appearing in five-piece fashion this year.

Cochrane husband and wife musical duo, Norbert (accordion, vocals) and Sandy Hirth (stand-up bass, vocals) will be joined by Marty Lee (guitar), Sue Anne Borer (vocals) and Don Gowan (mandolin, guitar) for two performance slots.

“We’ve played quite a few of them,” said Norbert. “It’s a really well-organized festival and it’s also a good chance to see other groups and musicians play.”

Performing an assortment of traditional East Coast Celtic-infused folk music, the group will also showcase some Irish tunes, a little bit of country and even a few originals. Those who stop by the Trail’s End Pizza and Lounge at 5:15 p.m. or the Water Valley Community Hall at 8:15 p.m. can anticipate hearing upbeat instrumentation with layered harmonies.

The annual festival seeks to promote traditional Celtic music and local talent and is modeled after the annual festival held in Feakle Co. Clare, Ireland.

Advance tickets are available for $20 each or $60 per family at watervalleycelticfestival.org; tickets at the door are $25 or $75 per family. The festival is still in need of volunteers.
