Rocky View Schools (RVS has hired Michel (Mike) Guindon as the public school division's new associate superintendent of business and operations, according to a press release, and he will begin his new role as of June 7.

With more than 20 years of experience in public education finances and operations, Guindon offers a wide variety of skills and expertise within the context of managing complex school divisions, the release states.

“Mike recognizes the importance of focusing our resources towards supporting students so that all students can achieve their absolute best,” said Greg Luterbach, RVS' superintendent of schools, in the release. “His previous experience in school divisions will serve RVS well as he helps us navigate the important work in this portfolio.”

Guindon joins RVS from Canadian Rockies Public Schools, where he has served as the secretary-treasurer for more than five years. In that role, he had direct experience overseeing budgeting and financial information, transportation, legal matters, insurance/risk-management, and facilities, while also working closely with the CRPS' human resources team.

According to RVS, Guindon has also held leadership roles in similar portfolios in Almadina Language Charter Academy, Conseil scolaire FrancoSud (the Francophone school division for all of southern Alberta), Chinook School Division, Wild Rose School Division, and Northland School Division.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Athabasca University and is bilingual in French and English.

“Mike’s hands-on leadership and strategic approach will be valuable,” Luterbach said. “This is a large portfolio that supports students and staff in many aspects; we are excited Mike has joined the team to lead this work.”

The opportunity for Guindon to join RVS is due to the pending retirement of current associate superintendent of business and operations, Larry Paul.

“On behalf of RVS, I welcome Mike to our team,” reiterated Luterbach. “We look forward to his contributions and service to the school division and to the students, families and communities we serve.”
