Second annual Show & Shine to dazzle

A “perfect kick off to spring” is how the organizers for the second annual Spring Show and Shine described the event.

“This is a chance for everyone to dust off their toys and come out together for a good cause,” said Harvey Crich, organizer.

Started last year as a “spontaneous” decision, residents in Cochrane thought inviting classic and special car owners to meet would be a great way to get the community out, fundraise for the Cochrane Legion and raise awareness about veteran support.

“Veterans need some support.

“I’m sorry, but they are so under supported, (Canada doesn’t) treat our veterans the best,” Crich said.

Fundraising efforts at the Spring Show and Shine will include asking for a food bank donation or monetary donation for admission and a 50/50 draw.

The maximum tickets sold will be 3,000 at $2 a ticket.

Last year the winner of the draw donated the winnings back to the Cochrane Legion but Crich said there is no pressure to do that.

Not to be confused with the annual fall Show and Shine, hosted by the Cochrane Classic Car Club, Crich said they are not there to step on toes but just want to have a good day while doing “something meaningful.”

“We are not judging cars - this is all to just aid the legion,” Crich said.

To register your vehicle, show up to the event site between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. located at 204 Fifth Ave, Cochrane. The event on May 6 starts at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a barbecue available for guests. For more information call Harvey Crich at 403-860-5880.
