Another threatening Snapchat photo involving a Cochrane school surfaced yesterday.

Cochrane RCMP received a complaint from the vice-principal at Mitford School on June 27 at 11 a.m. that there were “possibly threats ” made towards a member of their school community via Snapchat, from third party information.

Cochrane RCMP visited the school and spoke with the staff, witnesses and the suspect. After a thorough investigation, the threats were found to be unsubstantiated and there were no safety concerns towards the students, staff or community.

This is the second Snapchat incident this month. On June 3, a 15-year-old male from Cochrane was charged after “snapping ” a photo of ammunition warning people not to attend Cochrane High School on June 6. The youth was charged with conditions not to go on social media.

The RCMP wants to re-iterate that people should be cautious and aware of what they are posting on social media and it can “be easily misinterpreted. ”
