Calling all helpers and turkeys.

The Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is hosting a volunteer day this upcoming Saturday as the staff need assistance hauling wood from the enclosures.

For four hours, volunteers are invited to bring work gloves and chainsaws (if you know how to use it) to help move dead trees in the way of the fence lines. Any wood hauled out of the area will be free for the taking.

In addition to free firewood, volunteers will also have the chance to watch the ‘Turkey Toss’ where if you donate a frozen, string-free turkey, you will have the opportunity to toss it to the wolfdogs for them to gobble up.

The adult-only volunteer day will be on Oct. 8 from noon until 4 p.m. at the sanctuary, located at 263156 Range Road 53, Cochrane.
