It’s the day when people loudly proclaim their latent Irishness in grand fashion, but why be a downer on a perfectly good excuse to have some fun? Here’s what happening around town:

240 Riverview Dr.

The most Irish of pubs in town, Killarney’s will feature Irish dancing. Is Riverdance or Lord of the Dance your jam? Then look no further. Rob Skeets is also playing — with an album called Kentucky Fried Celtic, he’s more than a fit for celebrating your inner Irish person.

Bay 10, 205 3rd Ave. West

Lots of green beer. Mini pizza and wings for $10. Also a St. Patrick’s Day party. Enough said.

113 Railway St. West

Green beer and green cocktails, such as the Spirit of 1916, the Thomas D’Arcy McGee and the Insane Leprechaun Posse. The first two you’ll recognize if you know your history. The third, maybe not.

304 1 St. West (part of Rockyview Hotel)

Green beer, and business as usual. This one’s carte blanche, so there’s no telling what could go down. It’s what you make it.

204 5th Ave.

Although it’s not technically St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday is when the main fun is happening at the Hideout. If pub/Irish/folk/rock music is your thing, then come see the Hubcaps, featuring a five-piece ensemble with Brock Smith, who can “sing anything,” according to pub owner Ronnie Knowles. There’s no cover charge, so you really can’t go wrong here.

57 W. Aarsby Rd.

Ten beers on tap, mean and green with their own special Irish stew and boxties. What is a boxty? Out of their love-hate relationship with the potato, the Irish created a pancake out of the spud. Get filled up on hearty fare before you dive into the rest of your night.
