Time to update your resumes for the sixth annual Cochrane Job Fair this weekend, with over 200 job vacancies available.

The free event will be hosted at the Cochrane RancheHouse Feb. 20 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., inviting people to bring their resumes, meet local employers and get resume advice.

“There is a good mix this year of different types of companies – every year it is successful (but) this year we are trying it on a Saturday to see if it is more accessible to people,” said Rob Kalinovich, Town of Cochrane economic development officer.

With approximately 225 job vacancies from attending employers this year, there will be a variety of job types available, from seasonal to permanent, where residents can seek local employment or network with Cochrane companies.

Kalinovich is encouraging people to come, even just to introduce yourself to hiring staff – “if there isn’t a specific vacancy you are interested in, sometimes just getting to know the employer can be helpful in a job search.”

Bow Valley College will also be at the job fair to showcase different training opportunities, and Cochrane Employment Services will be there to help with resumes and job search advice. Last year, more than 300 job seekers attended the event, and organizers are hopeful to see more attendees after switching the usual Thursday date to a Saturday so the job fair will be accessible for Cochranites.
