Although it’s sold out, organizers of the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation annual dinner and auction are still looking for items to put up for grabs, accepting women’s jewelry, tools and artwork.

All funds raised from the Oct. 17 event support the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation Bert Sheppard Library and Archives. To donate items call 403-932-3782.

The money raised will go towards the library’s day-to-day operations, displays and programs run throughout the year. Last year’s event raised $30,000.

“We’re the only museum like this Western Canada. It’s quite unique that a museum about ranching is located on the Cochrane ranch,” said librarian Jana Wilson.

Wilson said it’s a valuable resource to students, western authors and people doing research into their family’s history.

The Bert Sheppard Stockmen’s Foundation Library and Archives is located in the Cochrane RancheHouse.

The library was established in 1980 by the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation as a unique non-lending library. Over 13,000 books related to western culture from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, including a complete collection of Brand Books for Alberta from 1888 to present, can be perused through.
