The Cochrane Activettes are reminding residents that Stuff-a-Bus is happening this Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Canadian Tire parking lot.

The event is part of the Activettes’ Share Your Christmas hamper program, which will provide food, gifts and clothes to more than 200 Cochrane families in need.

All non-perishable food items, new toys and clothes are accepted, but Helen Parnell said organizers are specifically hoping for more pyjamas as some schools opted not to donate pyjamas this year.

Additionally, toys for children ages 11 to 12 are needed.

“They’re not the easiest to buy for,” Parnell said of the age group.

So far, the Activettes said fundraising has been successful.

“Everything is on track regarding the fundraising side,” she said, adding the group just received a $6,000 donation. “And we’re getting lots and lots of food.”

As far as volunteers, Parnell said there are more than enough, so no need to sign up.

“We’re turning down volunteers, the spots get taken up very quickly.”
