The fifth annual Stuff-A-Bus brimmed with success last weekend, with a strong showing of donations to go toward the Activettes’ Share Your Christmas campaign.
“All of the seats were filled right to the top, so I would say that’s pretty stuffed,” said Marina Chabbert of Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES) – the local volunteer group that runs the yearly fundraiser.
Chabbert said the turnout was amazing, in spite of the frigid temperatures and the economic downturn.
Each year CAES sets up a Southland school bus in front of the Cochrane Canadian Tire location where shoppers are encouraged to purchase toys, gift cards, non-perishables or other donations including monetary to be placed inside the bus.
The Activettes will be sorting and packing Christmas hampers this week for a Dec. 17 distribution date. The food bank volunteers estimate there will be around 200 festive hampers doled out – at least as many as last year.
