Despite being hosted on April 1, there is nothing foolish about Taste of Bragg Creek.

This year’s fourth annual foodie event will be hosted throughout the Hamlet of Bragg Creek at approximately 10 different locations with close to 20 vendors participating. The event had to expand the venues after the destruction of the Bragg Creek Community Centre earlier this year, when a fire-suppression pipe burst flooding the auditorium and meeting rooms.

“We didn’t have a location for a while but we have now decided, for the event to continue and so people can still enjoy it, the event will be hosted at the individual restaurant locations,” said Shaye Radford, Bragg Creek Community Centre program co-ordinator.

“We are very excited for the event to continue and for local restaurants to showcase what they do.”

The community centre is scheduled to finish renovations and reopen in 2017, but for now organizers are looking at the positive side of the situation. The benefit of not hosting the event in one building is the chance to encourage guests to explore Bragg Creek and see what the hamlet has to offer, organizers explained.

“We will be excited to have a little bit of a different atmosphere and to get people actually heading to the local restaurants,” Radford said.

“Bragg Creek is considered a destination from Calgary, and Cochrane – so if people are looking to head out for the day, it gives a good taste of what is available out here.”

There are no tickets for the event, instead each vendor will charge “appropriately” according to organizers. Free parking will be available around the hamlet, including at the malls and community centre.

For a list of participating restaurants and vendors, go to tasteofbraggcreek.ca. Maps will be available during the event at each participating vendor.

Taste of Bragg Creek is happening on April 1 from 5-9 p.m.
